Learning, like Life, is a Journey!

Wow, the butterfly is about to fly!

This year, like last year the children will investigate life cycles.  They watched eggs hatch into caterpillars, then eat and grow and finally turn into butterflies which were released during the Spring Break.  At the same time there was an incubator with chicks eggs in the Year 2 classroom.  We were able to share in the learning experiences.  Reception children and others passing through the playgroup were able to watch our toad and frog spawn hatching and growing.

Fun was had by all, and from the photo’s you can see a lot of thinking (and drinking!) was going on!

Steve Worrall did us proud again as Quiz Master.

We had loads of fabulous raffle prizes!

Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses including Pizza Express, Patrick Photographer and Guiseppes Hair studio as well as by parents and friends of the playgroup.

We raised a fantastic £585 on the night and are looking forward to ordering new new tables & chairs, a carpet and Easel with the proceeds.

The winners....again!

Our annual event held, this year, on 8th December was well attended and raised an excellent £350 with which we will be able to buy some fantasic new gadgets for the Children to use. They will soon be able to listen to CD’s  on a multi-port player, listen to eachother on an Easi-speak Microphone, enjoy learning with some new CD Roms, take their own wonderful photo’s with their new cameras and have great fun with the Bee Bot!

Merry Christmas!

The Proof has been received for the 2009 Tea towel. The children produced some excellent self portraits, full of individuality and character, which will make a lovely keepsake for family and friends. They are being sold for £4.50 each or a bargain £16 for 4 and proceeds will be used to buy new puzzles for the children. They should be arriving with us soon.

Tea Towels have now been distributed. There are a few remaining and these are available to buy through the Playgroup at £4.50 each.

Hi Im Liz, wife to Tony and mother to Oliver (3) and Thomas (18months).

I started as Chair in October this year after Oliver joined the Playgroup.  He settled in very quickly and has made friends and recently went to his first birthday party.

Patrick Photographer has been into playgroup and taken some wonderful pictures of the children. These are being sold to the parents and the Playgroup will receive a percentage of the profits to spend on dressing-up clothes for the children.

This term the children will be learning about all the different occupations in life.  We are going to have fun playing doctors & nurses, dentists, fire fighters, police officers where the children will learn about caring for one another, explore new tools such as a stethoscope, have the opportunity to meet our local Road Safety Officer to practice our pedestrian skills and much more.
